Apple of my eye

Mac obsession. Two words sum up two months pretty well for me. How long have I really been wanting a Mac? Quite some time now. I am forever grateful to my parents who, four and a half years ago, took me to get a new computer for school and spend more than they had planned because I needed the latest, greatest. I walked out of the store with a Gateway. That same Gateway rests on my lap now and makes this post possible. I am planning my break-up with my Gateway right on my Gateway...Is that rude?

Dearest Gateway,

I learned in my business writing class that it is better to get right to the point and then explain, and although this is hardly a business letter, I feel I shouldn't delay in saying that (knock on wood), our relationship is quickly coming to an end. I don't want you to think that it is all your fault, a lot of it was outside your control. First, you were born into the wrong family. How Windows became such a prevalent power in the world isn't a complete mystery, but I am truly sorry that you have been stamped, since your inception, with the words: "Designed for Windows XP." Lesser computers have buckled entirely under such pressure.

You have had your fair share of trouble too. I am sorry I couldn't be there when you went through your hard-drive replacement as I am sure that it was the downloaded versions of Battlefield 2 that brought about the downward turn in your health. Nowadays, you are very nearly bedridden, but it brings a smile to my eye to know you still have a sense of humor and detest the library just as much as I do. Sometimes I feel like I could go into cardiac arrest in that place too.

My dear Gateway. I will never forget the times we have shared together. When the day comes that we must part, I want you to know that your memory will live on. I hope this letter remedies my rudeness, even if only a little.

Sincerely,
GregoryJames

Macs captivate me. They are shiny and expensive; everything I look for in new electronic things. It is like we were made for each other. But really, I have been doing my homework and am excited for the day when my minimum wage earning self can makes its way to the store and make such a great investment.

Future self: I am so proud, I knew this day would come.
