Weekend Adventure Series

Amazing.
The past three weeks have been just that. As far as life in general goes, things are excellent. Here's the run down of what has made life soo good:
-I got into the creative track of the advertising program at BYU and am stoked!!
-I should either be headed to New York or Chicago this summer for an internship
-Working grounds means I am back outside, and for the most part can make work into a good thing
-My special edition LEGO Moleskine arrived in the mail
-Mother's Cookies came out with Jungle Animal cookies
-My milk drinking is as strong as ever; a gallon every 30 hours
-I have spend each of the past three weekends with great friends on amazing adventures
-And, so long as I keep my shirt on, I have a great tan!

Things are great. These weekend adventures are making me appreciate just how great friends are and how many exciting places there are to visit all within a few hours of Provo. Week 1 was backpacking up Horsetail Falls Trail by Alpine with a group of Adkids that I love. Thank you Scott Talbot for that one. Week 2 took me to Goblin Valley--brainchild adventure of Eric Schneck and Jason Taylor--with a great group from the ward. (side note: Goblin Valley is the same place a scene from Galaxy Quest was filmed, the first time I ever saw Dwight Schrute on film)

Week 3, this past weekend, was a trip down to Moab to visit Arches National Park, with 20 of my new favorite wardies. I am addicted to this new way of living. It is Sunday and I am already thinking up this coming weekends adventure. Growing up, we never did a lot of outdoorsy things as a family... besides living in the country. I don't remember us going camping, or hiking, or anything remotely similar. So now, not trying to bash on the family, there is just a lot that I feel I missed in this aspect of my life and I am soaking it up. I could spend the whole summer doing this if I end up staying here in Utah. On each trip I have become the unofficial photographer and it has been a lot of fun getting cool photos of the scenery and the groups that I have been with.

Basically, I have always wanted to be an outdoors person. This is my beginning into that dream. Now I need to start getting my own equipment...

  1. Wowza, that was less than two years ago. You really need to write on this thing more often. There is a lot of history missing from this hiatus, wouldn't you say. And this, "Growing up, we never did a lot of outdoorsy things as a family... besides living in the country. I don't remember us going camping, or hiking, or anything remotely similar." You could substitute a lot of stuff in this sentence. Make it a mad lib. That'd be funny.
