A Little Bit of Fun

It only takes a few seconds of listening to someone talk that you can usually pick out something in their speech that is quite repetitive. For many, especially in public speaking situations, the "likes" and the "umms" abound. I have always wanted to keep a secret tally on how many times one of these people says one of these words in a regular conversation or public speaking situation.

Much more interesting than saying "like" or "umm," I have a teacher that has two favorite phrases.

"Kind of a thing."
"As far as that goes/be."

In no way do I mean or intend to give a negative view of this person, I regard him very highly. These phrases, and my tally of their presence in our class is merely something to keep me engaged and to have fun.
